For someone whose mind is open enough to see through the smoke screen of misinformation and outright lies of government and media, I find it odd that you can disregard the fact that there is NO evidence to support a belief in any God, while there has been much evidence brought forth which disproves key elements of the belief.

I'm not trying to take a shot at you, however from my perspective, your belief in god is equal to belief in the official explanation of 9/11...it just isn't supported by the evidence and cannot be supported with a logical argument.

That said – something my uncle once said comes to mind…"I don’t believe in God, but he sure scares the hell outta me!"

Anyhow, keep up the great work you do with your blog!

The real question is not wether to believe in God, but which version of God to believe in, if you do believe...

Some might say I'm atheist or agnostic, because I don't go to a church or believe in going to church... yet I believe in the ideals set forth in most religions which believe in God, which is fairness in treatment of others, morals, etc.

Going to a social gathering once per week to listen to priests or "God talkers" drone on and on is hardly a requirement for belief in God and entry into the equivalent of heaven.

thanks for your comment and your words of support - they mean a lot to me.

it sounds like your uncle was a very smart man.

if there was 'proof' that could convince everyone that God exists, then there would be no merit in having faith.

peace.

drac! yes - I agree, completely.

ultimately, it's not just about whether you believe in God, but whether you believe in something greater than yourself - and what that means in terms of values.

You know, I don't know that I remember seeing you comment on posts outside of our abysmal economy. It's nice to hear your perspective on this subject.

Yea I don't post on many. I just read. Kind of mirrors how I am in person too. Always did have a tough time having relationships with most women! They got nervous when I never said anything =D

This whole religion topic is something I tend to stay out of over the internet. Its ahrd enough to have a legitmate debate on a topic like this in person. The internet usually makes it damn near impossible!

"They got nervous when I never said anything."

I pity the woman who doesn't know the value of a man who keeps it short.

But, online - unlike in real life - we need to talk in order to communicate. So, I'm really glad that you chimed in.

Though, I agree, religion is usually a divisive subject. But, not among people who respect each other's right to believe what they will.

I prefer to call it karma -- the registry of one's good and bad deeds or thoughts that is kept somewhere. I know it works.

I agree that Israel is unlikely to survive, but for more empirical than metaphysical reasons - like increasing numbers emigrating from Israel combined with Palestinians' high birth rate. Israel, like the US, is in a reactionary phase, lashing out to postpone the inevitable. And both are a little like Nazi Germany, which is not a pleasant prospect.

I tried to disagree with your previous post, Q, on 9-11, but couldnt get my comment on. Basically, I said the truth will never come out on 9-11, just as it hasnt on the assasinations of JFK, MLK and RFK. The truth of 9-11 is much uglier than any of those, and the keepers of public order, including the media, will do anything necessary to bottle it up. And the people dont want to know it. It's too scary.

You know its funny, but I just realized that your ending reasoning in the article is the exact same reasoning i use know that i'm here in the south to try and convince people to conserve enery and help reduce global warming.

I mean, maybe its real or maybe its not, but would you want to take the chance that your children will have no habitable earth to live on?

Of course... with the nuclear and who knows what else weapons the world has developed that will probably destory the planet and human race first at this rate.

"there is NO evidence to support a belief in any God, while there has been much evidence brought forth which disproves key elements of the belief."

There is no (available) camera footage of USgov/Israeli
- henchman planting explosives in WTC 1,2&7
- (possibly electonically) hijacking those 9/11 jets
- masterminds ordering their henchman to do the above (to link them to those crimes)
- etc.
There is no "direct" evidence like those above (available) that I know of linking USreali's to the execution of 9/11.
Just like the USgov also doesn't have any "direct" evidence linking "Alcaida" to 9/11.

However there is a huge amount of 'indirect' evidence supporting the possibility the USreali's did 9/11 and the 'indirect' 'evidence' linking "Alciada" to 9/11 becomes more riduculous the deeper you look into them.
The same can be said about evidence for a God or Evolution. There is no "direct" evidence for a God or Evolution. However the 'indirect' evidence for evolution is just incorrect.

For evolutionists 'matter' is its own God, being able to spontaneously come to life on its own, by accident.
Or that "benificial mutations" could advance microscopic lifeforms into complex beings like humans and birds.
Some of them admit that there are huge holes (actually the 'foundations') in the theory of evolution, but they still 'believe' it. 'Intelligent design'-ers are just evolutionists filing those 'holes' with a God.

"Its ahrd enough to have a legitmate debate on a topic like this in person. The internet usually makes it damn near impossible!"
This is so true and holds for most topics. It's already hard explaining non-trivial things to relatives over the phone.

I agree with every comment by the informed valley redneck - including the great work you do, qrs.

saif:

Yes they can - and you can model the non-random process on a computer, sucessfully and easily, with the vast majority of your random mutations being detrimental to reproductive sucess. All that matters is that out of thousands or millions of duplications, an occassional error in one copy provides a reproductive advantage to that copy over all other copies.
The reproductive advantage to that one in a million or a billon ensures that the process is
no longer random.
i.e: more babies that will make more babies = no longer random

Evolution is not random. It is an algorithm (a step by step process) that generates complexity.

I'm of the mind that evolution is not taught well at school ... by design. ;)
