Great stuff. I will be sending this to some of our Australian politicians (yes, we have an EXTREMELY vocal and influencial pro-Israel lobby here as well - they accuse all our TV stations of anti-semitism if any *actual facts* about Israel are reported on).

how come a boycott of ' israel ' is considered anti jewish by certian western medias, but the boycott of south africa was never called anti anglo. ive read in america certian people are calling for a venezuela boycott, venezuela is made up of many races, one wonders if this would be considered anti Spanish, anti Italian, anti Portuguese, anti Arab, anti German, anti African, anti indigenous people , as these are the people that make up venezuela.

Outstanding article and brilliant introduction - if only more people realized that they can change the world through their words.

This is the best writing/thinking I've seen on how to approach the Israel issue. The next question is: is there any way to launch this as a national campaign?
So far, I believe, boycott actions are very isolated and local -- one person handing out literature in front of a store. It would be so much easier, and more effective, if we could develop this into a single "brand" and unified voice.

Remember the Dean slogan: "Take Back Our Democracy!" Just add a second line: Stop Israel's Meddling with our Government.

(not very catchy -- someone can do better, I'm sure.)

I'd start by circulating the article among friends -- print it up, if necessary. It's one of the best action programs on any issue I've seen, and you might find someone who's inspired to put some time or money into it.

Is Scott a writer at this site? If so, can I post what he wrote in full on my blog if I link back to this article?

We're facing a nuclear holocaust in the Middle East -- think bombing of Iran, followed by Pakistan's government falling in response and losing control of the "Muslim bomb" -- just for openers. All brought on by the neocons' insane desire for regime change in Iran. Why so little response, by Congress adn the public? You've put your finger on part of the reason.

But also, judging from reactions to the TV show Jericho, more and more folks seem to think nuclear war is survivable with a little grit and determination -- just another kind of war. Some thoughts about an increasingly oblivious world poised on the edge of the abyss: Dr. Strangelove, please keep an eye on your toys. Your grandchildren are getting forgetful.

After reading this I have dutifully "girded my loans". Now that everything's kosher at the bank, I suppose I should duly "gild my loins", (if not my lily), after emptying my bladder, of course.

Deep.

If one thing is certain, it's that the Lobby is not all powerful. It is in their best interest to appear this way, and they are quite proficient at manipulation and the creation of illusions - without these, they're basically like the Mafia with a certified money press.
