The war on terrorism will have no end. Just like the war on drugs, or the war on poverty - it is meant to keep the hoi polloi in a perpetual state of fear, angst, and vengeance at whatever the enemy du jour might be.
As a teacher, I wish 1984 was a mandatory book for all students. I picked up on my own as a junior. It forever changed my perspective.
Here we are - the bloggers, the outcasts, the fringe truth seekers, the dismissed as conspiracy theorists, the cynics, the punk rockers, the anarchists, the progressive thinkers, the artists, the dreamers - and we are certianly subject to Orwell's painful inquiry, "Can a minority be right? Can a majority be wrong?"
I too love 1984. The sad thing though is that the year is 1984 right now. It is always shocking the idiots that actually buy the crap about brown-skinned terrorists. Wake up people-the terrorists are the corporate terrorists.
