Thanks, Akber, for this very thoughtful and insightful post.

It looks like they're prepping the world stage for the final clash of civilizations - any time now.

Thanks. I did not quote the Quran in my post, but just for the sake historic friendship between Christians and Muslims:

Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews and those who are polytheists, and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly. Remember, there is nothing that pleases the Zionists more than to have Christians and Muslims fighting each other. The news story about the Pope offending Muslims is being blown out of proportion by the Zionist-controlled media, in order to maximize the amount of animosity it can create.

There is an excellent website called crescentandcross.com where they discuss the relationship between Christians and Muslims. We have a lot in common, and should be allied against the Zionists, who despise both Christians and Muslims.

To be fair, the Guardian, in the UK, much to its credit, has not only mentioned the Cardinal's (as he was before he was Pope) reservations about Turkey's proposed entrance into the EU, it also mentioned that he was keen on preserving the "Christian identity of Europe". I found this to be a huge shift in the position of the paper - as the recent trend in left-of-centre politics has been an unholy alliance with the current Crusade.

The Pope was definitely testing the waters. There is absolutely no doubt about Ratzinger's right-wing credentials and his anti-Islamic stance.

His almost immediate apology does not alter his fundamental position on Turkey, or Islam.

Dear Michael - I can assure you that many Jews are opposed to Zionism too - and nowadays vocally so.

Shahid:

You're right, not all Jews are Zionists. A number of non-Zionist Jews came out to our protests during the attacks on Lebanon this summer, and a few even spoke to the crowds, condemning the destructive assault on Lebanon by Israel.
However it is important to always ask: in whose interest is a Christian versus Muslim conflict? I noticed yesterday the Zionist rag 'The National Post' had the pope angering Muslims as its main headline, and there was a story about Muslims attacking Catholic churchs in Gaza (probably made up by the Zionists).
I hate to see any kind of fighting between Muslims and Christians, or between Protestants and Catholics, or between Shias and Sunnis. We all have a common enemy, who hate us more than we could ever hate each other - we should unite and deal with that enemy first.
The genocide in Palestine would have been stopped long ago if Muslims would have stopped fighting among themselves and unified to deal with their enemy, the enemy of all mankind: the racist, destructive Zionists.

What would you do if you were the head of a Church that can only hope to sustain itself through opposing condom use at the cost of millions of AIDS dead among your own adherents?

It's clear from his other statements that the Pope isn't trying to bring on World War III. His hope is to open the Muslim World for conversion. It's a pretty dumb start, laughable if it weren't for the potentially dire consequences.

Muslims have grounds for fleeting anger at Benedict's incredible hamfistedness. But I hope folk recognise that it was just that. Crusades are out at the Vatican - they're bad for business.

To believe that Islam is the religion which grants and supports secular freedoms is naiv. Religion in Saudi Arabia is not free. To critize that is the duty of the pope.

Conversions from Muslim to christian is lifethreatening in Islamcountries.

From my personal view I don't need any of the big religions. They are all scams of their own kind.

When 2 bad guys shoot at each other why stop them? Are you your brothers keeper?
