You can't talk about slavery without mentioning slavery in the North...because it existed (unfortunatley) just as much in the South as it did up here. If anyone lives in the NYC area or plans on visiting for the holidays I highly recommend going to see the Slavery in New York exhibit at The New-York Historical Society. It's the first expansive exhibition that covers the history of slavery in NY. Check out www.slaveryinny.org.
