The current corporate rush to Android and iPhones will likely prove less productive than IT departments think. The loss of the BlackBerry keyboard will be far more costly than imagined.
The only alternative to the speed of a BlackBerry hard keyboard is Android's SWYPE feature.
Time spent composing messages is a meaningful component of productivity. Users will either waste too much time on virtual keyboards, or messages will be kept so short as to affect purpose and comprehension. Fortunately the new virtual keyboard on BlackBerry's BB10 OS provides predictive word composition on the fly and in multiple languages simultaneously. The performance boost is impressive, but BlackBerry needs to maintain meaningful market share for devout users to continue to find product in the marketplace.
