Who is @FedEx kidding? They spend tens of millions of dollars advertising and promoting their new so-called One Rate plan. Seriously? One rate? First of all, there is no mention of a rate in the ads. Secondly, there is no rate posted at their web site. Thirdly, you have to download the FedEx Service Guide - all 180 pages of it. And, finally, there on page 62, they have posted a series of regionalized charts with T W E N T Y O N E separate rates. The customer is left to determine which rate applies to their shipment. And that, folks, is FedEx One Rate! - which, by the way, is limited to 50lbs. It seems that, of those who care, most people know that the US Postal Service offers one rate for an envelope, and one each for small, medium or large boxes. Their limit is 70lbs and you can ship almost anything almost anywhere in an envelope for $5.50 - a relative bargain by quite a margin. And that rate is widely posted. FedEx appears to have joined the ranks of AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and other old line monopolies and duopolies who strive to defend their turf with misleading promotions designed to confuse, if not deceive, the consumer.
