Tick Tock... Tick Tock... It is only a matter of time. Americans will not tolerate having their Internet Broadband access priced like caviar instead of electricity. Don't confuse the Internet with the internet. The internetis just like the electric wiring or the plumbing in your house. In today's world, it is a crucial part of infrastructure. After all, your great grandfather didn't have a phone jack in his home, nor did your grandmother have a cable jack in her home. Now Ethernet wiring is becoming part of the Building Codes in many jurisdictions. The exciting part of the Internet, as some people refer to it, is actually the World Wide Web - you know the three w's you type before site names. That's where all the creativity and fun is. After all, Ferrari doesn't build roads, they build the cars you can drive on the roads. Same idea. If you enjoy a web site, or need it for business, you might pay a subscription fee, or purchase items there. The price you pay is based on its value to you. That's where the money is. If you can't afford to buy jewelry on the World Wide Web, that's your choice. But your broadband access to the Internet should not be priced so high that you are deprived of access. You have rights. So keep that in mind when you hear discussion of Open Access to your broadband access. The government needs to protect your right to connect to the global network at a price that is fair and reasonable for all classes of businesses and consumers. I'm not for over regulation, but this is important for all of you. Students, scientists, musicians... everyone.
