Residents of the Fes Medina expressed both surprise and delight at the news that a free concert was taking place in the old Bab Boujloud cinema

Having been closed for years, few held out little hope of its return. Yet, it is back, albeit not as a cinema, but as a concert venue available for hire.

Yesterday's surprise concert had no publicity and attendance was low, but those present were treated to a wonderful concert of both Melhoun and Aissawa Sufi music.

It is to be hoped this beautiful old building will once again play a part in the cultural life of the Medina.
