Simon: If players play a game and love the playing game so much that they want to play it even further, do they often make what? Budi: They make with the game their own game, or in other words, they modify a game. Simon: They are called affectionately shortened mods. There are many of them and so we want now to introduce some of it in our Both: new column Simon: in future. Budi: Have fun.
Budi: Up to now, unfortunately, there were only few right Mods for Valve's famous teleportation fun Portal. Now, far before the release of the official second part, PC and Portal fans get one delivered which is not to be sneezed at. The French modder Nicolas Grevet and his team excelled itself with Portal: Prelude. Based on the Half-Life 2 engine they made all in all 19 own mental disciplines with the popular Portal principle. Therefore, it is necessary to master the steadily more difficultly becoming levels by using Portals. Basically this is nothing new, however, Portal: Prelude falls clearly through the cracks of a normal mod project. On the one hand, it is just beastly hard and only suitable for the people who mastered the original Portal semi-somnolent. The affectionately formed and diverse level are full of malices and without putting on the thinking cap you land too often in the deadly water. On the other hand, a very plausible and excellently moved story which happens before the real events of the original is told. With a lot of joke and love in the details life awakes in the Aperture Science lab and, moreover, ... there is cake! Yes cake! Lunacy! We do not want to give away to you any more. Our result:
Basically Portal: Prelude is only a mod. But it presents itself at least as well as the original game. [cough] Valve will have incredibly problems to form their officially announced prequel like Portal: Prelude.
Oh I forgot to explain 'Mord ist ihr Hobby': The original US title is 'Murder, She Wrote'. In France it is known under the name 'Arabesque'. Literally translated: 'Murder Is Her Hobby'. When they remove the first 'r' it means: 'Mod Is Her Hobby'.
Mr.Yeah, now you're the man! Thank you for your time, it's awesome =)

On our forums, eddy posted this:
Yeah your mod was really on MTV in the show called Gameone(in Germany).
Very nice job guys ! Its splitted up in 6 parts. The mod is shown at the 3rd part at 1:15, here's the link: http://www.mtv.de/videos/19785652(on the right side are the other parts: teil 1, teil 2 and so on).
Now, the problem is that we can't see anything from France(apparently), the only thing we get is "Sorry, we're unable to retrieve this video.". So, if someone here is able to see it, we'd like him/her to rip the video using any sort of recording software (snagit for example) and send us a link. And if you can't provide us with a video, could you try to translate what they say in english/french?
Thanks in advance!
You can post it here in the comments or send us an email.
EDIT 24/10/08, 02:09:
Mr.Yeah took the time to record it AND translate it for us! Thank you Mr.Yeah, that's wonderful. You can watch it on Youtube if you can't see it on mtv.de, and the translation is in the comments.
