Wow that guy's just flying

I'm not going to say he's a cheater, but that backwards bunny hop glitch seems really weird. Or is that something you guys stuck into your version?

Wow! I kept seeing posts from him on the forum RSS feed, but I never really realized he had beaten this many records.

Also, was the title of this post intended to be a Super Smash Bros. reference?

Anyway, congratulations to Stimich.

http://www.portalprelude.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1057 - I believe that explains how he didn't cheat. Nicolas, I'm not saying you're not doing your work thoroughly enough, but before you go to such drastic measures as BANNING I think you should check out the possibilities. I was at Stimich's house when he got one of his records. What I noticed was that the only program/app he had running was steam. I also noticed that he actually beat the record with his bear hands. Use source recorder yourself and tell me how the end result will become.

just a thought.

If he's been caught cheating and banned etc, shouldnt this be snipped out cos technically he doesnt deserve the credit and praise being given in this thread?

Well... few and raw things: I think you're taking your moderator's job too seriously, RELAX MAN.
Then, He did a 13sec and you can find it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKbRMrLWvKw go and watch all 9 minutes.
Finally: still saying that's a cheater, I'll still to think that you are a sad unskilled person.

Nicolas, speaking as an outsider*, I'm near 100% sure that you and your group of friends fucked up with the Stimich case. Among other things, you chose to cover your eyes and stay ignorant. And yes, I've read the threads on the forums and examined some of the videos myself.

(*)I played Portal a year ago, know about the time trials and Stimich through Youtube. Fast forward 1 year, I heard news about Portal 2, came back and search around then found out about this whole fiasco.

P.S. Looks like it's been a long time, Stimich and everyone have already moved on. But oh well I already wrote the comment, would be a waste to not post it.

The debunking could be a complete farce if the the original video signal was changed due to compression or something lag related on the machine it was captured on.

Fraps constantly drops frames and modifies the speeds based on the intensity of the game and processor load. Sometimes a processor-intensive area of the game can cause Fraps to slow down from a locked standard such as PAL or NTSC (24 or 29.97 perhaps 30 frames per second) and drop around 4 to 10 frames which causes a visual lag on the output video since the spaced frames are stretched for timing or removed completely.

If his processor was lagging at the time you should see multiple frames of video that are exactly alike in the spots where lag occurred.

Although rare, sometimes bad compression can cause a "jittery" motion on playback, which in lieu of frames 1, 2, 3, and 4 being played in sucsession, they are played as 1,2,1,3,2,4,2,3,4 etc. which produces the jittery effect. I'm not sure what causes this, perhaps bad codec support, but it's very uncommon.

I'm not defending anyone I'm just trying to supply some facts.
