An excellent post. You've been pretty comprehensive in your coverage of Zardari's shenanigans. one thing though, is that you do underestimate Zardari's hope of avoiding reinstating the old judiciary. Zardari did make feelers to revive the old Benazir-Musharraf alliance, by cobbling together a PPP-MQM-PMLQ-JUI-ANP alliance. However, one can speculate that Amin Faheem was the preferred candidate of such an alliance for the post of prime minister, hence Zardari's sudden leap into the lap of Nawaz Sharif.
