Good show. On the face of it, numbers shouldn't be as entertaining :-).

i thought that the small pocket in jeans is for coins, so you (or the aforesaid cowboy) can just scoop out the coins with one finger, rather than having to dig all the way down to the bottom of the actual pocket - which is tricky if you are sitting on a horse at the time, or even sitting at your desk.

Yeah, you're right. Second biggest is the China Dams employer, or the Chinese Army.

Third biggest is the one Rob works for, the company andrew mentioned. There was a poster around campus about it.

As for the jean pocket debate, neither a phone, a pocket watch or anything else mentioned would fit inside mine. I thought it was for rolled-up banknotes, and that's what I use it for.

If a jeans pocket is for the pocket watch then which came first? It wouldn't have been called a pocket watch if there wasn't a pocket for it to go in. And they wouldn't have made a pocket watch pocket for jeans if a pocket watch didn't exist. Go figure.

Did you know that my telephone number really DOES start with 555 ?? Quite a lot of Leith numbers are 555.

I keep waiting for my number to feature in an American TV show or film, but it never has.... yet. I'll bet the day it does I'll get some halfwit dialling it and annoying the heck out of me.

I really enjoyed that show. I heard somewhere that the BBC actually has a phone code reserved just for its TV shows ... ahh here it is. 01632 is the code used for British TV shows like the 555 in American ones.

Yup, loving the new site design too! Working fine in IE... One quibble though: is it meant to stick to the left like that? It'd be nice if it could be centralised... But maybe that's just me.

Nice redesign ! Are you going to fill the right-hand third with something though ? It looks kind of lonely all empty like that... maybe widen the centre column to take up the space ?

The number 999 was introduced as the UK's emergency number because the number 9 could be found on the dial in the dark or in smoke by using two fingers and feeling for the end stop.

Although the fact that I know that scares me a little!

It's an emergency number that can be used throughtout Europe, so memorise it if you go to Tel Aviv, in Spain.... ;-) xx

0800 1111 is shorter than all the other numbers that start 0800. All of the others that I know of have 6 digits (0800 XXXXXX)
