I didn't get very far into Dragon Age, but your suggestion of multiple POVs is an interesting one. Did you ever play Suikoden III? Out of all the games I've played, that one comes closest to the ASOIAF model of multiple POV characters at odds with one another. Its three heroes each begin on a different side of the game's multi-cornered conflict, and for the bulk of the game, their stories are interwoven: play as A, then see her actions from B's perspective, then switch back to A, and so on.

Thanks for an interesting read, in any case!

Ah, yes, Suikoden III. I had forgotten about that game, and it did do that, quite well.

Oh, really? I thought it was fantastic for the first two-thirds of the game, though unfortunately the story ran off the rails towards the end.

Enjoyed the article. Surprised to see someone writing something about DA:O 2 years after the fact.

Yes, it is not nearly as deep as it pretends to be, but I'm enjoying my first play-through at the moment.

BTW, there *is* an auto-pause feature in the latest version of the game, like there was in Baldur's Gate 2. I've had it on since the start.

I don't use tactics as they failed once too many times for me. I micro-manage every member all the time. It's the only way to make them do what they should. :)
