I used to have a fake-jewel-studded stapler I kept on my desk when I was a reading teacher. When I retired, I gave it to one of my students who had always admired it, promising he'd keep up his reading skills.
He, in turn, gave the bejeweled stapler to his mother and went on to become a famous author.
