Yes, I've noticed that trend as well. I've considered taking up smoking cigars so I can take all the breaks AND annoy the cig smokers. Ah, good times.

How about pipe smoking? Can we do that too, or would that be too pretentious?

What about those great candy cigarettes from back in the day? Jeez, do they even make those anymore. How very un-PC. ha!

Don't forget the valuable information (aka gossip) you hear via the informal, trusted smoking network ;-)

Yeah they still have the candy cigarettes as sad and stupid as that is. My kid said they were "cool" and I had to give her a very long and boring lecture of the dangers of smoking and the disgusting habits of others. She loved it. ;)

I'm the only one at my library who smokes. I'm the director. Go figure.

Worked at a gas station in my teen years. I grew frustrated with my smoker coworkers getting so many breaks. I started "smoking" candy cigarettes for the breaks. The boss told me to start smoking for real or get back to work.

What's a break? I don't even take a lunch anymore. Just eat it at my desk. You're totally right about the smokers. We used to have 2 smoking librarians, and they were CONSTANTLY going outside. Back when they worked here, I took "smoke breaks" with them, too, and I have asthma. Sometimes we just need to escape the depths of the library.
