I always tell my student workers that is what we do with the fine money or at least that is what we should do. :) Our library system just incorporates the fines back into the budget somehow.

When I was a student worker, we all got to go out to dinner once a semester, and have ice cream a couple times in the summer from the fine budget :)

This is genius. We don't charge anything unless it's 60 days overdue. SIXTY DAYS.

Wow, those are all great ideas! Our fine money goes into the General Fund to pay for frivolous things like fire, police and EMS. I think I'd like the ice cream, though....

I'm like 90% sure that it all just disappears into someone's pocket. They tell us it all goes back into the collections budget or something, but no one really knows for sure.

Our fines go to the County General Fund and we never see it again...

Most of our overdue fees just sit in the petty cash abyss. Not going to lie though. We do order in food for birthdays and end-of-the-year :)
