We used some of our supply budget to buy noise canceling headphones for students get distracted by noise. (We're a school library). They really appreciate them.

I work in the children's room and it is a constant onslaught to the auditory senses for the whole time that I am here. The biggest issues is parents that just leave the kids and wander off....then the patrons in the adult section complain and give me the evil eye for not controlling someone elses kids.

I too deal with unsupervised children. I am not above standing at a distant and saying "Does your mom know what you are doing?" This is usually followed by an uncomfortable silence and, for a moment, all parents reunite with their children.
