Yes, spit tobacco is a real joy to find in a library because it is so much less offensive than smoking. This is particularly the case when patrons do one of three things:

(1) take a waste basket and place it by their carrel/table to spit into,

(2) spit into an old transparent water bottle [*NEWSFLASH: Pages/shelvers—those aren’t tea leaves in the bottle you’re picking up!*], or

(3) spitting into an old flimsy disposable soda fountain or coffee cup.

The tobacco chewers might not mess-up my lungs with their cancerous habit, but no one likes to clean up the nasty spittle—especially when they throw that used water bottle into a recycling bin. I still pity those people that get the cancer jaw that comes with that nasty habit though.

Don't forget about the nasty folks that spit in the only working water fountain. Seriously people, take that loogie to the toilet!
