I think you are the Woody Guthrie for librarians. I get the folk hero thing. "This book is your book;this book is my book.....this book was made for you and me."
Just don't say anything too accurate or actually laugh about (ok, AT) the crazy people you might encounter in your library job, or they will villify you...which I guess is akin to be a folk hero, so maybe that is OK.

Start a library blog. Librarians love to read about other librarians. Write a good one, and you might just end up being a folk hero.
