| Introduction | A female physics geek by trade (I'm both majoring in physics and teaching undergrad physics labs) but a geek-of-all-trades is closer to the truth. I'd say I'm intellectually compatible with libertarian, objectivist, and anarcho-capitalist social/political/economic views, though I have problems with the automatic dismissiveness toward other ideas, the red-button solutions and the macho flash I often see in those communities. For those who prefer philosophy lingo over political lingo, I'm in line with ethical egoism. I'm also excited by (rather than scared of) extropian and transhumanist ideals. I listen to ridiculous amounts of music. I tend to see new movies in the theater; my favorite genres are science fiction, psychological thriller, suspense, spy movies and adventure. I love most movies with ensemble casts, which usually have the bonus of simplifying complex issues far less than most. I don't read as much as I used to. I enjoy writing fiction and poetry. I've been married for about five and a half years; I'm in an open marriage (polyamorous) and I have several (three!) other sweeties. |
