About Me

I have been an artist since I was 12 years old. My mother was an artist so I was surrounded by the need to create art and I was nurtured. I studied fine arts at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas until my junior year when I transferred to the University of California in Berkeley in 1967. Those were difficult years to be at that school. I lasted one semester at Cal in their art department and then decided I needed to find something that would provide food for me. I switched to Social Welfare, graduated in 1969, got married and started working at Macy's until I finally obtained a job with the Alameda County Probation Department. I have had two children, one husband, and a number of dogs along the way. I continued with quilting which I started doing in 1970 and began making original art quilts in 1988. It wasn't until October, 1999 when I retired from the probation department that I was finally able to become the full time studio artist I had always wanted to be. Now I have been successful on that path and am enjoying every minute of it!
