About Me
I started writing as bureau editor for “Computer Design” and “Electronic Design”. I eventually served as editor-in-chief for “Electronics” and most recently “Integrated System Design” (ISD). All have ceased publishing except “Electronic Design.” I’ve written about everything from semiconductor production equipment to miniature optoelectronic devices that enable today’s fiber optic networks to provide broadband service worldwide. I’ve been an observer in the land of geeks, learned their arcane language sufficiently to converse, and met some of the most interesting people you’ll ever run across in a lifetime. I spent the early part of my career in public relations with industry luminary Regis McKenna. At Regis McKenna Advertising and Public Relations, I was the PR account executive for Intel Corp., and launched the Intel 8086 processor, the progenitor of the CPU that now powers most PCs. I was also the PR account executive for then start-up, Apple Computers, Inc. and launched the company’s first personal computer, the Apple II. I have a degree in economics from the University of Texas and live in California with my wife “IM”.
