Introduction Life's a constant challenge between doing what I 'should' be doing and doing what I 'want' to do, even if the 'should' thing is really something I 'want' to do. You know what I mean?

Favorite Movies Some Like It Hot, Born Yesterday, Walkabout, Harold and Maude, Spirited Away, Rock and Roll High School, True Romance, Talk To Her, Shutter Island, True Grit (the recent one), Mean Streets, the wonderful Thin Man films, Five Dollars a Day, Blue Velvet
Favorite Music Django Rienhart, Jeff Buckley, Billie Holiday, Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, The Travelin' Wilburys, Eliot Smith, Anouar Brahem, almost anything Ukulele, Dave Alvin, Carl Perkins, X, The Pixies, Modest Mouse, early Rolling Stones, some Pink Floyd, Vivaldi, lots of opera, especially Puccini (yes, I'm basic), Verdi's Tosca, and Carmen, by Georges Bizet. Modern or contemporary operas I like include Peter Grimes and Messiaen's almost shockingly spare (in the North America premiere, at San Francisco Opera), "Saint Francois d'Assise."
