Introduction Rivers was a real live dog who went blind and then ran the Iditarod twice. He was born in Kotzebue, Alaska, and then moved to Knik, Alaska in 1998. Rivers lived in Palmer, Alaska, and was an Alaskan Husky, born in June 1995. He weighed between 60 and 65 pounds; 2 feet high and about 2 ½ feet long. Rivers black, brown, and white. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on December 17, 2009. He was 14 1/2 years old.
