Introduction I'm Mary, a British mum of four lovely daughters living in the USA. I have discovered that along with motherhood comes a demand for a certain degree of culinary competence, of which I have very little. A defining moment came as I was staring out of my kitchen window, listening to the hungry howls of my demanding brood. I was not only going to have to feed them again that day, but everyday for the next eighteen years, give or take the odd meal out and the life saving invention of pizza delivery. To my horror I worked out that meant approximately 6570 dinners! I mean honestly, that's practically a career! That's when the penny dropped, I was going to have to learn how to COOK. I mean really COOK, roasting, braising, cakes, tarts, meringues, soups and stews, all the techniques and tricks I could muster. I threw down the gauntlet, took on the challange and one meal at a time, I now try to feed my family the most delicious, nutritous and heart warmingly nurturing meals I possibly can. This is my story, told through my kitchen, with all it's truimphs and disasters, through which I uncovered a rather unexpected and deep love for cooking.
Interests cooking (of course), reading, walking with dog!most of all spending time with my gorgeous girls and husband.
Favorite Movies Really too many to add but here goes; The Queen, The Waking of Ned Devine, It's Complicated, Truly Madly Deeply, Charlie Wilson's War, Julie and Julia, Brideshead Revisited, Under the Tuscan Sun, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Favorite Music Hopeless - I'm really bad at music - I LOVE some classical pieces but never know what their called - as for the current stuff - I hear it in the car with my teenagers and we argue over the noise level.
Favorite Books This is impossible because I'm a bookworm who owns a library of cookbooks for a start, but other than that current favorites are, Eat Pray Love, anything by Alexander McCall Smith, The autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt, Cleopatra, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand, the Stieg Larsoon triology, Anna Karenina and anything by P D James
