| Introduction | I write poetry, picture books, nonfiction, and novels for children. My more than one hundred books include four picture books: Flip, Float, Fly: Seeds on the Move (Holiday House), Sing-Along Song (Viking), Cats on Judy (Whispering Coyote Press/Charlesbridge), and Waiting Out the Storm (Candlewick, 2010). I've also written several science books, at least a baker's dozen biographies, and fifteen series of nonfiction books for beginning readers. I graduated from Vermont College with an M.F.A in Writing for Children and Young Adults. I received the Barbara Juster Esbensen 2000 Poetry Teaching Award, and I love speaking to children and adults about poetry and writing. |
