Introduction	I was interning at an advertising agency. Well, I had gone there to be interviewed so that I could intern with them. They took one look at me and said, "Are you an Assamese?" No, I said and shook my little head. "Well, then you gotta be a Bengali." No, I said again and shook my head again for the effect. I finally had to tell them that I was a Gujarati, if that bit of information was so necessary and life saving. There was a pause, the kind of one where you could reach out for a bubble gum and blow a bubble. He looked at me and said, "Your parents had a mixed marriage?" No, I said. A pause again but I had no bubble gum on me. And then, "Any chances you were adopted?" I don't think I am adopted. I asked my parents to be sure and I am certain that they didn't lie to me. So I am this brown girl with small eyes and curly hair who can talk for hours on end. But you give me a book and you can hear a pin drop! Seriously. Okie, when I am not trying to be silly, witty or wise, I am usually writing. Or talking. I have reduced the hours I spend sleeping and gossiping. :-)
