Introduction The National Wildlife Federation, Florida Native Plant Society, Florida Association of Native Nurseries, Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program and the Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Program have been my inspiration for teaching landscaping classes on going chemical free, bird and butterfly friendly starting with the back ten feet. Air and water quality, the health of our rivers and estuaries, and our families and pets depend on how we behave in our home landscapes. I believe the paradigm of what makes a socially acceptable yard is changing: shifting toward a more naturalistic landscape that reflects the natural history of where we live. It’s time for all of us, no matter where we are to embrace and protect our local natural resources and do what we can in our yards to ensure the continued survival of plants and wildlife native to our region. I hope to provide a forum for new information and ideas, great websites, inspirational reading and other new ways to keep our planet safe from harm.
Interests native plants, sustainable landscapes, sustainable housing
