Interests swimming, snorkeling, biking, basketball, fine dining in nyc, listening to jazz, reading, plays/musicals - particularly Broadway, art museums, movies, sky diving, riding horses, watching old tv westerns, following politics (I'm a politico junkie), traveling - particularly foreign travel (especially the mid-east), short-term mission trips (particularly to Nicaragua), walks on the beach/oceans - woods - mountains, visiting and taking in the Swiss Alps; being in large urban areas - NYC, Chicao, LA, Paris, Rome, Jerusalem; deep discussions in philosophical/religious give-and-take; driving my jeep wrangler through three plus feet of snow; Boston Terriers; quiet times at home in front of the fire reading or just watching dvds/tv and relaxing. I really also enjoy following the connection twixt science & religion in all aspects: quantum mechanics, astronomy, physics, human nature. And, there are always the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bears, and New York Jets!
Favorite Movies heidi, the sound of music, o brother where art thou?, babbette's feast, jesus christ superstar, godspell, the mission, lord of the rings, michael, o god, keeping the faith, excaliber ... and I must confess - absolutely any Jody Foster or Meg Ryan movie ... and, pretty much any movie shot in NYC!Favorite Books:
Favorite Music jazz is my favorite - i love it and could listen to it for hours, but I like absolutely any type of music - my musical tastes are very eclectic, as I enjoy any music - other than country. In churches I'm equally as comfortable with high-church classical music, pipes and all, or to jazz music loaded with Christian lyrics, as I am with the edigest contemporary music. I'm particularly partial to: first jazz, plus contemporay christian music, then classical guitar and classical music, blue grass, and 70s rock music. As far as all-time Christian muscian ... that's easy ... Jami Smith. When she performs she doesn't perform. She worships. Her voice is powerful. As she sings you see her communing with her creator.
Favorite Books Lately I've been reading everything I can on church outreach, the "unchurched" (ie: read the book "unchristian"), and the views/thinking of atheists ... more "church business" books. but my all time favorite author is c.s. lewis - i devour anything by lewis (particularly lewis' "the weight of glory" in "god in the dock"and "the abolition of man"); also - francis schaffer ("how do we live now?"), jrr tolkien, tim keller ... these I'll devour. Also like books on science & religion, the interaction twixt the two. Oh yah ... that Bible thing ... the old pages and the new pages ... I'll read that ....
