Introduction Furious Theatre Company debuted in April 2002 & rapidly produced 5 critically-acclaimed plays in 12 months. These productions earned 6 NAACP Theatre Award nominations (winner Best Supporting Actor, Best Director), 2 LA Weekly Award nominations, & numerous critic's picks from the L.A. media. The company also received the Pasadena Arts Council's Gold Crown Award & a the “Debut” award from Back Stage West. In September 2003, the City of Pasadena reclaimed the Armory Northwest. After a 13-month search for a new home, the Pasadena Playhouse granted Furious a 4-year residency at the Balcony Theatre, the Playhouse's 99-seat 2nd stage. The company’s inaugural season in residence at the Pasadena Playhouse included the L.A. Premiere of The Shape of Things by Neil LaBute, the West Coast Premiere of The God Botherers by Richard Bean, the U.S. Premiere of Tearing the Loom by Gary Mitchell, the U.S. Premiere of Scenes from the Big Picture by Owen McCafferty & the swashbuckler hit, The Fair Maid of the West, Parts I & II by Thomas Heywood. The 2006 season in the newly-named Carrie Hamilton Theatre includes the L.A. Premieres of Yussef El Guindi's Back of the Throat and Grace by Craig Wright.
