Introduction I have devoted my entire life to studying the Oil Painting methods, materials and techniques of the Old Masters. In this regard I have spent decades, since still in my early teens, making exact replicas of the greatest works of the Old Masters to be found in all the world's great Museums and Art Galleries, both in the US and Europe. I am particularly interested and have devoted much research to studying how the Old Masters constructed their masterpieces from the initial design and planning stages, to the initial laying in of the first paint layers, then the middle paint layers and then the final paint layers including the very delicate and quite thin finishing glazes that gave to their masterpieces such a glowing subtlety and luminosity in terms of tone and color. I have always been particularly interested in the works of Michelangelo, Sir Peter Paul Rubens, Sir Anthony Van Dyck, Titian, Andrea del Sarto, Velazquez, Rembrandt and Frans Hals. Needless to say there are dozens of additional Old Masters who I have studied in great depth and whose drawings and paintings I have copied endlessly throughout my life.
