Introduction The two most beautiful things in the Universe are Art, and The Scientific Method. When done perfectly, the two are indistinguishable. The Phrase "Three Pipe Problem" is taken from the Sherlock Holmes short story, "The Red Headed League" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes uses it to describe how long it will take him to figure out the solution to the case, after having the amazing particulars described by Mr Jabez Wilson. It is wonderfully portrayed in the 1985 Granada dramatisation featuring Jeremy Brett. To me, this phrase has always represented a committment to overcoming obstacles which at first seem unfathomable. I wish I could do it easy as Holmes did, but he was a fictional character after all... This web log was created as a repository for my musings on Art, Film and Literature. There may be some detours to History, Music and Science, but I make a solemn promise to never pollute it with the great nuisances that plague Mankind: Money, Politics and Religion. It is not intended to be a reference work, but may point you in the direction of some interesting subjects. Enjoy the read, if it's not your cup of tea, well hurry up and move along now... H Niyazi
