| Introduction | "Sunday at the Giacometti's" came to life simply through traditions. Growing up in New York as part of an Italian family, Sunday was the day the entire extended family came together to share and discuss (mainly my father talking), while enjoying the company of my grandparents and the wonderful taste of my mother's superb food. It was usually a loud Sunday, and always the same menu, pasta con Sugo and carne in Humido. The Sunday family ritual became a long-standing tradition that continues even today. I began extending this family tradition quite by accident. Having moved to Mississippi in the Deep South, I longed for a sense of home and a home cooked meal-the type of meal reminiscent of my childhood days. Today it has become for me a day to share "old school traditional" meals and stories relating to life in general. Simply put, stories bring things to life and photographs became a part of the routine as a way of preserving the identity of our long-standing traditions. My goal is to apply these traditions and classic cooking techniques to everyday cooking. Welcome to Sunday at the Giacometti's. Where traditions continue. Buon Appetito! |
