Introduction	At this point in my life, I'm first and foremost a Wife and a Mom. There are lots of lacrosse games, taekwondo lessons, playdates, and homework I constantly juggle, plus school reports, Science Olympiad, college interest letters, you get the idea. Running from the elementary school to the high school and back again -- Mom's taxi service. Add to that the attempt at a clean house, two dogs and a parrot, folded laundry, decent meals -- everyday is a new day. I'm 44, Roman Catholic, Mexican, divorced and remarried, a lifelong Democrat slowly turning to the darkside, struggling to keep the weight off as I get older and my mind sharp as my kids get older -- staying one step ahead of them physically and mentally. New obsessions, old fashioned ideas, lots of hard work, and a sense of humor are key! I love my life and I'm blessed because of it. But I see the world around me, the world my children will inherit, and I worry about what kind of world their children will grow up in. Some of the nonsense that goes on today makes me cringe and tells me that teaching them critical thinking is key to their future. And not just theirs!
