Balancing studio time with the day job. Work in little bursts of time. Take artist dates with yourself. Buy all the art and writing supplies you want, but then use them everyday. Work intuitively with great emotion and passion. Go so deep into it that you feel like you're chasing after yourself while you paint and write.
