Introduction Our family is so thankful for our blessings. With 4 wonderful children and an incredible husband, my life is rich with God's gifts but I did not fully realize this until the journey that followed the birth of our third child. After my pregnancy with Samuel took a concerning turn, he was born not breathing followed by many hospitalizations, surgery and testing. Sam is effected neuromuscularly with cellular mitochondrial defects complex 1 and 3 of the respiratory chain. After exhaustive testing, no genetic links were found and we feel stress inutero, at birth and after damaged his nervous system, progressing and accelerating cellular dysfunction. At first we used a caring bridge site to communicate with family from the hospital. Archives of that phase are under samuel wyatt negron on caringbridge.org. Journaling became therapeutic for me. After returning home, we shifted to this blog site. Currently Samuel faces daily therapy and many medical interventions. He is a bright, precious little fighter. We don't know what lies ahead but we have found strength in our faith and the love within our family. Sam, his sisters and new brother light up our life each and every day.
