Introduction | I've been judging open horse shows for over 12 years. My real passion is hunters and hunter equitation but I also judge halter, showmanship, trail, western and variations of english riding. I attend at least one judges seminar of various breed and show governing organizations, per year to keep up to date with changing trends and new rules. I've shown in every type of class and discipline that I judge. That said.... I am just one judge with one opinion. The open shows I judge are based on the interpretations of USEF & AQHA rules. Judging is very subjective. This blog is to show what it is like to judge a horse show and interpret rules. You may also send me your pictures for critique. Make sure to add what the objective in the photo was; if at a show, type of class; whether you were schooling or showing & what you want included ..... horse, rider, turnout, question, conformation, etc. |
