| Introduction | I’m H. Vincent Harris and I’m the creator of Colored Opinions. Colored Opinions is a blog exploring the possibilities new media offer to immigrants from (for example)countries like Congo, USA etc to spread "political" buzz through new media, building long-term visibility for alternative views. I started this blog in 2007 in connection with a radioprogram aimed at giving a voice to migrants living in Leeuwarden. It opened my eyes to the endless opportunities of new media. My goal is to learn, through sustained on- and offline collaboration, how migrants can seize the possibilities, which new media offer, to exert an alternative influence in the public sphere, differentiate the political landscape and find a growing audience which subsequently will motivate to take action. In that context I am especially focused on: comparing multilingual newssources, strategic timing of blogposts, online collaboration, forging strategic alliances, documenting/following campaigns as political tool, using online marketing techniques in politics. Ann Garrison joined Colored Opinions as a contributor at the end of 2008. I am proud of our sustained collaboration. |
