Introduction Welcome to my blog! I am a wife and mother to three young, beautiful children. My family inspires me every day. They especially reflect my wish for a long and healthy life. In September of 2011, I decided to make some changes. I have always been a healthy person, but something didn't feel right. It was more than just the extra pounds I was tired of carrying around. I needed to find new answers to what I have always defined as a healthy lifestyle. I created the blog, 'Weighting for Newport', to record my journey. The best part was the joint interest of my wonderful friend, Kelly, who created her own blog and health goals as well. As a 'reward' for our efforts, we planned a summer trip to Newport at the end of our ten month journey. It was a perfect way to celebrate our commitment to health--but especially to our friendship. I lost 20 pounds during my journey, and gained knowledge I would have never realized before. I feel enlightened on many levels, but mostly in the way I have discovered a 'natural' path to a healthy body and calm mind. I continue to muse about my journey in the blog, 'The Greenhouse Effect'. Join me as I dig a little deeper into the roots of my health.
