Introduction	I spent most of my life known as a mediocre cook, mostly due to a combination of laziness and a misguided notion that as a modern woman, I should be a terrible cook. Somehow, without my knowing exactly how it happened, cooking evolved into something I did to prove to myself that I could really take on almost anything, even something as archaic as cooking. After a few triumphs, I was hooked. Nobody is more thrilled with this development than my husband, loyal taster and tireless cheerleader (for all my life pursuits). The title of the blog is based on my penchant for cooking impulsively. I tend to cook things that are tasty but usually not practical. Thus, I am more proficient at braised short ribs that take several days to prepare than anything that can serve as an easy weekday meal.
