Cyberhillbilly is the nom de guerre of Johnathan Gay. Gay works in the area of technology based economic development and strives to build an entrepreneurial, innovation-based economy in Appalachia. Gay is a 99 graduate of EKU and a 2002 graduate of the UK College Of Law. Johnathan was raised in Leslie County, KY, deep in the heart of the “old economy" on a small tobacco farm. His late father was a disabled coal miner and a union member and his mother is a teacher in McCreary County, KY. His grandfathers were both factory-working, union men who managed to raise families in Appalachia while traveling up and down U.S. 27 and 25 to work in Ohio factories. Gay previously practiced law in London, KY. The opinions expressed here are his own and do not necessarily reflect his employers'.
