Marty Lane Smith

About Me

Marty was born and raised in Burkesville, KY. His father and mother both worked for the US Postal Service and lived on a small farm. The youngest of four, he is a 1987 graduate of Cumberland County High School, and in 1991 he received a BA degree in Mathematics from Western Kentucky University. He then served nearly 10 years as an officer and fighter pilot in the US Marine Corps. In 2001 following his resignation of his commission, he was hired by FedEx Express, where he currently works as an MD-11 First Officer. Though he wore the label of Christian since the age of eight, Marty testifies that in 2003, by the power of the Holy Spirit, he was converted by God's sovereign grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (see Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 3:3-5). Shortly thereafter he served as a deacon in a SBC church for three years. He currently worships and serves at Parish Presbyterian Church in Franklin, TN along with his beautiful wife Stephanie and three wonderful daughters -- Mary Glenn, Grace, and Ellise. He holds strongly to the tenets of the Reformed faith.
