Introduction My musings on all things food. I spend most of my waking hours thinking about what my next food adventure will be, which I will share here in my collection of recipes, reviews, and recommendations.
Interests Hi there! Thanks for coming in and taking a look at my blog. My name is Juree Sondker. I am the acquiring editor for the food series at Columbia University Press(link), worked in several restaurants across the country, have been cooking for the better part of three decades, and am utterly mad (and some have claimed, maniacal) about food. Recipes: Although I did train in a kitchen after I graduated college many years ago, I am a home cook. I certainly enjoy baking and will include some of my (albeit easy) recipes for my favorite sweets, but I am mostly a savory cook with a penchant for improvisation. I definitely welcome any insights and feedback to my recipes as I am always making alterations myself. Reviews: As with most food bloggers, I am NOT paid to review restaurants and therefore will often go only once before writing a “review” based on that initial experience. I also am limited by finances in the number of dishes I am able to try at each place. Some of the places I review will be old favorites and some, first time ventures that I feel compelled to share with you. Part of the wonderful world of food blogging is precisely these one-off accounts of trying new restaurants, as most of us (unlike professional food reviewers) will make decisions based on that first visit. Recommendations: Because of my job and the inexhaustible energy I have for researching restaurants, and New York City restaurants in particular, my friends and acquaintances often ask my advice when searching for the “right” place to eat. I will do my best to answer your specific queries as to where to eat within 24 hours of receiving the email. Please be sure to note which criteria are most important in your search (i.e. type of cuisine, location, ambiance, etc.) And most importantly, thanks for reading!
