About Me

I'm an American girl who married a boy from Barcelona. I'm a grad student at a midwestern university, but I live in Europe. I'm a poet, editor, and translator, and I'm trying to write a dissertation. "Cant d'ocell" means birdsong, and is the Catalan translation of my last name. This blog is about life abroad, languages, travel, food, poetry, and anything else worth a bit of thought.

Your bow is not broken but you've run out of arrows. How can you fake being a bard?

I never needed arrows in the first place, preferring to find poetry in the arc of the bent wood and music in plucking its string.
