About Me

As I think back over my childhood, I’ve come to realize that conservation was a big part of my upbringing. My parents, survivors of the Great Depression and World War II, were routinely encouraging me to be more aware of the importance of conserving. Such as, “Close that door! You weren’t born in a barn and we’re not heating the great outdoors.” “Shut off that light, do you think we own an electric company?” When it was my turn to have a family and invest in a home I soon realized that although my parents were conserving, their primary goal was to live within their limited income. That’s the great thing about conservation, not only do we preserve our natural resources, we also save money. Rather than conservation being an effort or a task, wouldn’t it be great if it became a lifestyle?
