About Me

I'm a middle-aged dad who loves his tool belt but hates chores and yardwork. My wife describes me as 'scruffy' -- jeans and shirt-tails are the preferred wardrobe. Hawaiian shirts, too. I've lived in Texas my entire life: grew up in Port Arthur (1974 graduate of TJ, '77 graduate of Lamar University), now live and work in Fort Worth. My Parrothead tattoo (for real!) was a 2006 Fathers Day gift. I give thanks every day that coffee remedies the curse of ADD in adults like me. As soon as I can think up an opening line, characters, theme, setting and plot, I'm going to write a novel. And as soon as I can find running shoes in my color, I'll train for my third marathon (yeah, right!). I'm a cancer survivor (2004 -- some REALLY brave people in the treatment centers . . . mine was easy in comparison). My kids say that I talk too much, my wife says I'd talk to a tree, and I do like to write. If you're reading my blogs, you'd better get a cup of coffee, too.
