| Introduction | For those who stare blankly at the cabinets of MoF after their walk though the darkest levels of the Beehive in Prada loafers. For starving students who spent last weeks rent on Saint Laurent Bleu Majorelle nail polish. For those who once thought they would change the world, stylishly, and are now looking at their student loan, and debt, and beige wardrobe, and beige prime minster thinking fondly of retirement. For we who are handed our take away long blacks from a bearded barista in Jimmy D. Hope flickers as he admires our Danish glasses- but alas; he is simply flirting for tips which we unwillingly part with. That could have been a diet coke, we think in annoyance as we stride out into the Wellington wind and throw coffee from our keep cups onto the second hand burberry trench coat borrowed and never returned from our parents. As we forlornly swear at the weather Bill English rushes past. 'Pleb.' He mutters under hs breath. We think 'It could be worse.' and we sigh and retreat into Jasper FForde's latest novel on our kindle as we walk the final few steps back to our job. |
