About Me

In the early AM on September 10, 2007 I went to the emergency room because I was having trouble breathing. A routine chest X-ray revealed adenopathy and the follow up CT confirmed it: extensive adenopathy characteristic of Non-Hodgkins or Hodgkins Lymphoma. A biopsy determined it to be SLL/CLL: Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma - Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. My first two rounds of chemo (FR) did nothing and the cancer kept growing, I went to MD Anderson Cancer Center and changed my regimen for the next 3 rounds (FCR). After a four month break, I participated in a clinical trial of Revlimid (lenalidomide) to try to clean up the remaining leukemic cells, particularly in my bone marrow. The results of that trial were good, but not a homerun. I have 5% remaining in my bone marrow. But I feel great and am in remission. As long as the cancer isn't growing, there is no reason to do more at this time. So I am spending my time working on personal goals and trying to get in shape.
