| Introduction | I am a professional Horn player in Northwest La. and have been a member of the Shreveport Symphony orchestra for 45 years serving as the Orch. Personnel Manager for 32 years. My career as a hornist with the SSO began as a high school student, graduated to college scholarship utility Horn and Assistant Principal, 2nd/3rd Horn and eventually full time 2nd Horn. I currently play in the Shreveport Symphony, the Longview Symphony, the Texarkana Symphony and the Marshall Symphony. I play a Rauch and a Lawson.I have been a musician since the age of 4 when my voice was recorded on an old family 78 record in Dallas. My sisters and I talked and answered questions with my parents and sang on this recording separately. By the age of 10, my sisters and I, by then known as the Whipple Sisters, were singing professionally in Shreveport/Bossier and later Dallas/FW/Arlington as teen-agers. The newly created theme park Six Flags Over Texas was our singing venue for one summer. My mom played the piano for us; we also had modeled in Shreveport for Mr. Lynn's Cover Girls and sometimes played Horn Trios that I arranged. We still sing when we have family get-togethers with my mom and brother. |
